Story Time and Toddler Time

Story Time and Toddler Time occur weekly during the fall, winter, and spring. Librarians plan these programs to encourage early literacy skills with fun things such as stories, songs, counting, rhymes, and movement activities. See our events page for times!

  • Toddler Time is for infants through three-year-olds, and lasts between 20 and 30 minutes. Typically, Toddler Time includes shorter stories and abundant movement activities to keep the little ones engaged. A caregiver must be present for Toddler Time.

  • Story Time participants should be at least three-years-old and able to sit for a story. Parents are welcome to attend Story Time but are also welcome to let the child experience the program independently while relaxing nearby in the library. Story Time typically lasts about 30 minutes and also often includes a craft or game activity more appropriate for preschoolers than toddlers.

Story Time Dance Party

Our monthly dance parties encourage the development of important skills for the preschool set. These parties provide opportunities for children to practice listening, following directions, physical movement, and early literacy skills. Caregivers are required to be present, and may even find it impossible to resist joining in the fun! Dance Parties last about 30 minutes. See our events page for more information!

Lego Club

Lego Club is a monthly program in the fall, winter, and spring. Children aged 6 through 12 build with the library’s Lego bricks for about 45 minutes. Creations are displayed in the Children’s area of the library for about a week after the meeting. See our events page for the next club meeting!

Summer Reading Program

Each summer, the library provides opportunities to continue to learn and grow through reading and other activities. Children and teens can earn prizes for reading. Weekly activities and special events occur throughout the summer.

Lander Story Hour Players

The Lander Story Hour Players is a volunteer drama group that enjoy entertaining local children. The group formed in the late 1970s. They typically perform three times per year: a spring production for preschool through 2nd graders, a Halloween production for 3rd through 5th graders, and a special Wyoming Reads production for first graders. Occasionally, they participate in the Summer Reading Program as well.
