Many pollinators, such as honey bees, prefer to be among other honey bees; they form colonies and build hives. Solitary bees, however, prefer to build their own nesting spaces individually. Solitary-bee nesting sites can be built using found items such as last year’s cattail stem sections, last year’s milkweed stem sections, or the hollow stems of last year’s sunflower stems.
